Wright-Phillips: I will always remember day Sheikh Mansour bought Man City
It will be two years tomorrow that Manchester City travelled to Sunderland's Stadium of Light and notched a 3-0 win in the Barclays Premier League. That night, City's owner, discredited and financially ruined Thai politician Thaksin Shinawatra, sold the club to Sheik Mansour of Abu Dhabi.
The next night, City smashed the British transfer record to buy Robinho for £32million.
"I was sitting on my bed in a hotel watching the transfer countdown on TV," said Wright Phillips. "I couldn't believe what was happening. Robinho to City? It was mad, man.
"I didn't know whether I was watching reality or picking players for a PlayStation game. I will never forget that night."
