West Brom No1 Carson: Foster right to swap Man Utd for Birmingham

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Scott Carson says Ben Foster did the right thing leaving Manchester United for Birmingham City.

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Scott Carson says Ben Foster did the right thing leaving Manchester United for Birmingham City.

Foster made the switch when Alex McLeish paid championship chasing Manchester United £6m to bring him to safety conscious Birmingham a few weeks ago.

“It’s going to bring him a lot of confidence,” Carson told the Sunday Mercury.

“If he is playing week in week out it is only going to improve his game. People think it’s easy – especially at Man United – coming in for just one game and then straight back out. Coming in for one game and being expected to play well is hard.

“I experienced that at Liverpool. You are used to training but a game is totally different to training. He came in only for a handful of games and everyone expected him to just click with his back four. It’s not as easy as that.

“After getting a run of games under his belt for Birmingham I am sure he will be back to his best.”
