West Brom boss Di Matteo satisfied with Ibanez debut
West Bromwich Albion boss Roberto di Matteo wants fans to be patient with new Spanish defender Pablo Ibanez.
The Spain international made his Baggies bow in today's 3-0 pre-season win at Kidderminster Harriers and looked comfortable in a 45-minute run-out alongside Jonas Olsson at the heart of defence.
"We'll have to be patient with Pablo and give him the time he needs to settle in," Di Matteo told West Brom's website.
"This group of players are very good and always make the new players welcome.
"He seems a good character so I'm sure he will settle in quickly.
"But he has to fly his family over, find a house, a school for his children and all that stuff.
"He also needs to learn a bit of English and it takes time to get used to English football."
