West Brom’s Greening on verge of Fulham move

West Bromwich Albion skipper Jonathan Greening is reportedly on the verge of completing a switch to Fulham.

The Baggies midfielder has been linked with the Cottagers for almost the entire off season but West Brom rejected a £4million bid early in the piece.

It is understood that Greening was pulled out of the clash with Peterborough on Tuesday night because the two clubs are now in talks and West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo decided it a better option if he did not play.

“Basically the two clubs are negotiating,” he said on Wednesday.

“His teammates are fighting for a cause. I didn’t feel it was right for him to be involved last night. He’s been a great professional for us. I spoke to him before the game.

“There has been a lot going on for him in the last five or six weeks, once again, I have to emphasise he’ been very good for us.

“He’s been a true professional and it was my decision to pull him out last night.”
