Weather no excuse for Adelaide United’s Fyfe

Adelaide United defender Iain Fyfe will not use weather as an excuse as the club prepares for their Asian Champions League clash with Shandong Luneng in China on Wednesday.

Weather in the city of Jinan has forecast snow but Fyfe said being a professional footballer means you cannot think about such things in the lead up to an important match.

“The conditions will not bother me in the slightest," Fyfe said. "We've got to have the right footwear, studs and moulded, and really we should be prepared for everything.

"It's just about looking after the body and being professional.

"It might be cold, but as soon as you warm up you'll be fine."

Fyfe also said the travel conditions were not ideal but just another slight hurdle that has to be negotiated when competing with the elite of Asian football.

"I'm really tired, looking forward to my bed, but at the same time travelling with the team is really enjoyable," Fyfe added.

"This is a dream for a footballer, travelling the world and playing what you like doing best.

“It's a lot of fun going away together as a team and then getting a result. That would be perfect.

"Two days worth of training properly is plenty, we haven't got any excuses. We should be over the exhaustion by game day."
