Wales to be given opportunity with Central Coast
25.06.09 | Andrew Slevison
Scottish striker Gary Wales will be given an opportunity to prove himself with Central Coast Mariners in a seven-day trial.
Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna will take his charges to a training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in early July and will be looking for a potential replacement for striker Dylan Macallister for the beginning of the season who is struggling with injury.
"We'll be based at the AIS (from July 8) and have games arranged against Belconnen and the ACT rep side," McKinna said yesterday.
"Dylan is recovering from a shoulder operation. He could be OK for the start of the season."
Wales has experience in the Scottish Premier League with Hamilton Academical, Hearts and Kilmarnock.
The 30-year old has most recently been playing in the Victorian Premier League with Richmond.
