The Scottish Premier League has no plans to ban vuvuzelas from their stadia.

Independent MSP Margo MacDonald has urged football bosses to ban the trumpet-like plastic horns from their grounds after causing controversy at the World Cup.

An SPL spokesperson told Press Association Sport: "There is nothing in our rules which specifically relate to carrying musical instruments into our grounds. Basically, the decision would lie with the clubs and their operations people whether or not they want to allow the vuvuzelas into their grounds."

Football clubs in the Scottish top-flight will be given the final say whether to allow the noisy instruments into their grounds or not.

The spokesperson added: "It's not something that we are planning on reviewing in light of this, ultimately it's up to the clubs to decide. It's the same in the Premier League and the Football League. There are no specific rules so it's really just up to the clubs."
