Vitoria Guimaraes want Portsmouth to up bid for Nuno Assis

Portsmouth hope to close a deal for Vitoria Guimaraes midfielder Nuno Assis.

The News says a £2m bid has been made with Guimaraes for former Portugal international Assis.

The 31-year-old is an attacking midfielder but can also play as a support striker and has two years left on his existing contract.

Guimaraes are holding out for more but their president Emilio Macedo has indicated the offer is likely to be accepted over the weekend.
