Aston Villa have agreed to let midfielder James Milner leave for Manchester City and will now go after Celtic’s Aiden McGeady as his replacement.

Milenr has been linked with City for much of the summer but there has been plenty of uncertainty about the move with Villa not prepared to lose out on the deal.

It is reported that the deal, which will include Stephen Ireland going to Villa, will be finalised in the next day or so.

Now Villa, who can only buy after they sell, will turn their attentions to McGeady who will cost them around £10million.

The 24-year old winger has been in talks with Russian club Spartak Moscow but prefers a move to England and now that opportunity has arisen, he may get his wish.
