Kevin MacDonald has entered the running to become the new manager of Hibernian, reports the Scottish Sun.

The club have been flooded with applications since parting company with John Hughes on Monday.
And SunSport understands Aston Villa reserve team coach MacDonald has expressed his interest.

The 49 year old had a brief taste of life in the hot seat in August after Martin O'Neill's shock Villa exit.

But he was returned to his former role when Gerard Houllier was installed by US owner Randy Lerner.

Having been overlooked MacDonald is now considering a fresh start as his own man - with Hibs providing an ideal opportunity.
