New Barcelona signing David Villa is excited about working with coach Pep Guardiola.

Villa signed for Barca at the end of May and went on to star for Spain in the World Cup, scoring five goals as Vicente del Bosque's side went all the way to the title in South Africa.

And now the striker says he is excited by the prospect of working with Guardiola.

"I have a huge desire to train with Pep," he said in an interview with Marca.

"Not just because of what he represents but also because of what my team-mates have told me.

"They tell me he is a coach who makes you better individually and collectively.

"(Barca captain Carles) Puyol told me he had never had a coach like Guardiola in his life."

Before moving from Valencia to Barcelona, Villa had been linked with a transfer for the last few seasons and says he was relieved to resolve his future before the World Cup.

"It was liberating for me and it was also for him (Guardiola)," he said.

And the Asturian forward believes he will have few problems adapting to his new side.

"The national team and Barca play the same way, a 4-3-3, and I feel comfortable in the three attacking positions," he said.
