Vanstrattan set for Gold Coast debut
Jess Vanstrattan is set to make his debut for Gold Coast United.
The former Juventus shot-stopper has been unable to play for his new club in the opening six rounds after injuring his ankle on the eve of the season.
Now, after a quicker than expected recovery, the 27-year old will be included for the squad to take on Central Coast Mariners on Saturday.
If Vanstrattan is selected for the match, it will mean current custodian Scott Higgins will be demoted to number two but coach Miron Bleiberg was realistic about Higgins’ plight.
"He hasn't been without mistakes, but he's done the job for us," Bleiberg said.
"He's come in and we're sitting on top of the ladder."
Gold Coast are away to the Mariners at Bluetongue Stadium this Saturday, with kick-off at 7:30pm AEST.
