Van Persie open about Arsenal stay

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie says their sudden improvement in recent months has convinced him to stay at the Emirates.

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie says their sudden improvement in recent months has convinced him to stay at the Emirates.

"I think the main thing is that Arsenal really want to extend it and I want to extend it as well," he said.

"For me, I believed every step. We can call ourselves one of the best four teams in Europe and that is about right. Now we want to move on and win it.

"That was my target, that is what I wanted. I wanted to do it with Arsenal. That is the biggest part of my dream.

"For me, it shows a lot that we are in this position now. That makes me really happy."

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger does not want to negotiate contracts while there is still plenty to play for this season.

"I fully respect the boss' opinion that he wants to focus on football, I've got no problem with that," Van Persie said. "So we are going to speak straight after the season about that."
