Dutch-Indonesian striker Sergio van Dijk is a chance to play for Adelaide United in tonight’s round 3 A-League fixture with Melbourne Heart.

The 28-year old was in major doubt on Wednesday when he copped a knock on his calf at training but he has improved considerably, forcing Reds coach Rini Coolen to give him every chance leading into the Hindmarsh Stadium encounter.

“He (van Dijk) got a kick on his leg yesterday so we didn’t take the risk today, but I think he will be fine tomorrow,” Coolen said yesterday.

“I’m 100 per cent sure that he will do the warm up before the game, so I think he can play but if not, we’ll have to make another decision, but I think it will be positive for tomorrow.

“We have to make sure he is 100 per cent fit. If he’s not I’d prefer to play with another player and not take the risk, but I hope he can play and I think he will.”
