Van der Vaart: I turned down Liverpool for Tottenham move
Tottenham signing Rafael van der Vaart admits he chose White Hart Lane over Liverpool.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp claimed at the time that he pounced for Van der Vaart after seeing Bayern Munich come up short in their efforts to do a deal.
However, the 27-year-old insists it was not the German giants who had made a late bid for his services.
Instead, he claims that Liverpool were the other side hoping to push through a deal, forcing him to choose between two Premier League heavyweights.
Van der Vaart told Sky Sports News: "Liverpool were interested. Bayern were not interested.
"In the end you have to have a good feeling, and with this manager I got a good feeling. I am happy and I am going to Spurs.
"I am going to give it my best and hopefully I will play a lot of games and be important for the team. I hope to get a lot of goals and have a lot of fun."

That once-great club Liverpool was destroyed by that fat Spanish-Waiter.
I'm so glad he's at Inter now.
Can't wait until we punish his team in the Champions-League.
Come On You Spurs !!!
to be fair, vdv is a great player, but isnt exactly what we(lfc) needed anyway. he wouldnt get a game for us in the centre, and isnt anywhere near as good on the wing. he is to simmilar to what we have. he is a great player tho, that cant be denied.
LFC wake up ffs. Your a spent force, you have nothing to offer. Your manager has just admitted that his focus is on keeping players at the club not bringing any in. Hodgson knows he has nothing to tempt them with, j Cole has swallowed all of your resources and he was only signed to show gerrard and torres that you meant business...he was a free.....ha ha you mean business by getting a free transfered, always injured player who is on stupid money. Chelsea gave him away and you lot are drooling over him. Liverpools biggest concern this season will be to finish above Everton and i don't tink you'll do that. Hodgson, good in the europa cup but average in the league. Fulham finished where last season?, and the season before that?...good luck liverpool and please wake up and see it for what it is, not what it was!!!!!!!!!!
