Valencia hands Man Utd boss Ferguson major fitness boost

Antonio Valencia has handed Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson a fitness boost.

The Sun says the 24-year-old Ecuador international joined up with the Reds' reserve squad at their Carrington base and took part in much of the training work.

Valencia's recovery is great news for Fergie, who has been given two more fitness boosts.

Rio Ferdinand is back in the gym after resting the crocked knee which forced him out of the World Cup, while Michael Owen is working daily with physios and is set to link up with the first-team squad on their return home.
