Valencia coach Emery confident keeping Villa from Liverpool

Valencia coach Unai Emery is confident of keeping Liverpool target David Villa.

Villa, 26, has already turned down moves to Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer, while Manchester United are also interested.

Anfield chief Rafa Benitez wants to pair Villa with Fernando Torres, with Liverpool reckoning their Spanish hitman can persuade his international strike partner to head to Merseyside, says The Sun.

After sitting out Saturday's comfortable 2-0 victory over Cardiff, Villa is expected to play his first pre- season game in a friendly against Alex Ferguson's new-look United on Wednesday night.

Emery accepts scouts will be out in force again at Old Trafford but maintains they will be wasting their time.

He said: "Valencia want to keep David but he also wants to stay.

"We don't want to sell him because he is priceless. Barcelona and Real Madrid have already shown an interest in him but David decided to come back to us.

"That was an unbelievable feeling for the club and we don't believe he will change.

"He is willing to play for us and everything else is just speculation."
