Sunderland defender John Mensah has won praise from teammate Michael Turner after their 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
Stand-in captain Turner is delighted with his defensive partner's displays and says having a settled back four is a major part of Sunderland's recent revival.
"John's form has been very pleasing," Turner told safc.com. "We have settled into a good partnership.
"He is a great defender and we have now had a bit more of a settled back four of late. I think that shows in our defensive record.
"I've been pleased with the way things are going overall as we are not conceding too many goals.
"Earlier in the season we were letting in twos and threes which was disappointing, but we have tightened up of late."
