Tottenham's Bent to become highest paid in Sunderland history

Sunderland are edging closer to a £10 million deal for Tottenham striker Darren Bent.

The Sun says Spurs have finally dropped their player-plus-cash bid for £18m-rated Kenwyne Jones.

And that will allow the Black Cats to seal a club record £45,000-a- week deal for the out-of-favour White Hart Lane ace, 25.
