Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe is set for a new landmark this weekend.

Defoe will notch up 400 if he appears in Saturday's clash against Bolton at the Lane.

"This season has been brilliant," the England hitman told the Spurs website. "It always helps when you are playing with good players and the squad here now is unbelievable.

"That means we'll always get chances in games and it's up to the forwards to score.

"I worked hard pre-season and have continued that throughout the season. I feel strong and sharp as ever. I feel good."

It's no surprise that Defoe scored on his debut almost 11 years ago and he's bagged a famous five-goal haul and two hat-tricks in a prolific 2009-10.

"I've always worked on my finishing and that was the case even before I became a professional," he said.

"I always speak to Les (Ferdinand) and Clive (Allen), coaches here who have been there and done it, scored goals at the highest level. I watch videos of goalscorers.

"I love scoring goals. I'm 27 now and people say when you are 27, 28, 29 you play your best football - so hopefully there will be plenty more to come."
