Tottenham rebuff Birmingham approach for Pavlyuchenko

Skysports.com claims that Birmingham City have now lodged a bid for Tottenham's Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Skysports.com claims that Birmingham City have now lodged a bid for Tottenham's Roman Pavlyuchenko.

However, Spurs have been quick to tell Birmingham that their offer is short of what they want.

The two clubs have been talking over the past week about a prospective deal and Blues boss Alex McLeish confirmed his interest in the Russian.

Now the Blues have finally made a firm offer for the player, although Tottenham are looking to recoup almost all of the £14million they paid for the player in 2008.

Whilst Birmingham's offer is some way short of this, the offer would have smashed their previous record outlay of £5.5million paid for David Dunn in 2003.
