Tottenham face Hoffenheim battle for Doumbia

Tottenham are battling Hoffenheim for Ivory Coast striker Seydo Doumbia.

The Mirror says Spurs boss Harry Redknapp's spies watched the highly-rated Young Boys of Berne in action at the weekend for the second time in days and are under pressure to make a bid in the next few weeks.

Hoffenheim - bidding for a Champions League spot next season - have tabled an £8 million offer that Young Boys are set to accept and the 21-year-old flier could join them on January 1.

However, Redknapp is very keen and may match their bid and hope that the player fancies coming to the Premier League instead as part of his push for a top-four finish.
