Tottenham boss Redknapp: Assou-Ekotto can be hard work
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits fullback Benoit Assou-Ekotto can be "hard work".
After victory at Stoke City, Assou-Ekotto could be seen walking to the away dressing room all on his own - this came after a bust-up with teammate Vedran Corluka.
Redknapp said: "Charlie (Corluka) was upset that he didn’t come back and do his job. Benoit is a strange boy. He’s a bit highly strung and hardly speaks English. If you say something to him he’s hard work. He hasn’t improved his English in the couple of years he’s been here."
Asked why the player had walked off on his own, Redknapp replied: "He didn’t know the result! He probably thought we’d drawn.
"He’ll turn up Wednesday and play great, but he won’t know we’re playing Fulham until someone tells him. That’s how he is. He’s unreal. He walks off and he’s thinking about the music he’s going to play when he puts his headphones on."

when I heard Gary Lineker mention this on MOTD, I thought it was a wind up, but still had a chuckle. You have to hand it to all the lads at Spurs currently, they have a good little set-up going and characters like Redknapp and Ekotto add to the spice. It's a great time to be a Spurs fan.
Wow...i'm impressed by the analysis from Harry...
I grow up with Benoit...and it can sounds crazy but that is exactly what it is...the guy play football like a worker go to his factory...
But he is doing great though...
Im absolutely not surprise by what redknapp is saying...BAE is not a genius...but not an idiot...and his pride is often ridiculous and sometime usefull...
But he should keep in mind that if one day he is playing not as good as today...people won't forgive him anything...
How O'hara out on loan to Portsmouth helps us?
-Well, it got us Crouch, Kranjcar and Kaboul... (Also Defoe...)
If we had not offered them a player exchange and O'hara on loan, we would not have got all these players...
O'hara has done brilliant, but Kranjcar got more flair and is Modric and Corlukas friend....
