Tottenham to bid for Villa striker Carew

Tottenham are preparing a £5 million offer for Aston Villa striker John Carew.

The Daily Express says Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has spent the summer courting Carew but is ready to firm up his interest.

Martin O’Neill clashed with Carew last season after his infamous night out at a Birmingham lap-dancing club in October, and Redknapp will test the water later this month.

Carew has two years on his contract but Spurs are keen to partner him with Jermain Defoe.

Carew would be quite a good purchase for spurs they need a tall striker like him or crouch, need to sell 1 or 2 strikers first though, Bent needs to move on to pastures new as he has never been very confident at spurs, always passing backwards as aposed to when he played for charlton he was sharp as a tack. Most important purchase for spurs to compete this season is a natural world class left winger like ashley young or rodriguez. cant see young and carew both being sold though,MON is not that daft.

Carew?? Please no! i would rather Pav any day of the week. How would he fit in? Keane plays up there with Defoe. We cant play 3 forwards as modric has to play too!

with big man heskey at aston villa, can see carew being sold. too bad though, hes brilliant.
