Tottenham’s van der Vaart backs Real Madrid claims
Tottenham recruit Rafael van der Vaart has backed his former club Real Madrid’s claims that Bayern Munich never tried to sign him.
Madrid claimed that the German club never made a bid for the Dutchman despite Spurs boss Harry Redknapp saying the opposite and now van der Vaart, who landed at White Hart Lane for £8million, has revealed that Bayern were never interested.
“Liverpool were interested, Bayern were never interested, but you have to have a good feeling and this manager gave me a good feeling and I am really happy to be going to Spurs,” he said.
van der Vaart added that he was excited about playing against his Dutch national teammates after they helped persuade him to come to the Premier League.
“They were telling me that I should come to England; now I am going to be playing in England and am very proud,” he added.
“I am going to be playing against Dirk Kuyt, Nigel de Jong, Johnny Heitinga, so it’s good.”
