Three points the goal for Central Coast this weekend – Simon
Central Coast Mariners striker Matt Simon says three points is the ultimate goal for his club this weekend.
The Mariners, who find themselves in 7th place on the table and four points off the top six, take on league leaders Gold Coast United at Bluetongue Stadium tomorrow night and are in desperate need of a win to keep them in touch with a finals berth.
Simon insists the players will treat the match like it’s a final and give everything to achieve their goal for Round 24.
"We've had a couple of chances to turn things around over the last couple of weeks but I think that this is our last chance, definitely,'' Simon said.
"I dare say we have to get all three points against Gold Coast.''
The Mariners have not won in seven outings, with three draws and four losses causing them to drop out of the top four, and Simon says the mental side of things needs to change for them to snap the bad streak.
“At the moment when you're in this sort of rut I think it's all mental,'' Simon added.
"But we've worked really hard to change that and hopefully three points tomorrow night will go a long way and then we can get a bit of consistency and try and get that spot in the finals.''
