Sydney FC sign Japanese midfielder Moriyasu
Sydney FC have signed US-born Japanese midfielder Hirofumi Moriyasu.
The reigning A-League champions announced yesterday that the 25-year old had signed a one-year deal as they go about finalising their playing list for the upcoming 2010/11 season.
Moriyasu kicked off his career with J-League club Shimizu S-Pulse in 2001 before joining Japan’s Salesian High School in 2003 and then onto College Football Japan. In 2009 he found himself playing with division one club Mitsubishi Motors Mizushima FC before heading to Australia.
He was playing with NSW Premier League club APIA Leichhardt Tigers and also trialling with the Sky Blues who snapped him up and he is delighted with how his venture down under has turned out.
“Something tweaked inside me when I was close to quitting. I knew I had to come and try out here, this is unbelievable," Moriyasu said.
"I just bought a ticket to Australia, so I'm just so happy right now.
"The facilities, the standard of football and the coaching staff are just fantastic."
