Sydney FC owner David Traktovenko expects new coach Vitezslav Lavicka to have a long and successful stay in the harbour city.

The Russian believes the Czech tactician is the man to lead the Sky Blues into a new era.

“It wasn’t easy to find a European coach who was familiar with Australian club football,” Traktovenko told The Daily Telegraph.

“We had a few candidates but settled on Vitezslav Lavicka because of what he had achieved in the Czech Republic with a team of no stars (Slovan Liberec) and his good relationships with players.

“He has good contacts and we left it to him with the signings. He seems to be happy.

“My view is that stability is very important and that a coach should spend a number of years at the club,” he added.

“Of course, playing a good brand of football and getting results is what increases attendances and what we want to see happen is for the fans to have a better communication line with the players.”
