Sydney FC linked with North Queensland Fury’s Hughes
Submitted by Andrew Slevison on Tue, 10/26/2010 - 00:25
Reigning A-League champs Sydney FC are believed to be very interested in signing North Queensland Fury defender Mark Hughes.
The former Walsall captain has been a revelation in Townsville so far this season and reports suggest that the Sky Blues are looking to bring him in for the 2011/12 season.
Sydney notched up their first win of the season on Sunday in what has been a disastrous start to their title defence and they are keen to avoid a recurrence of this campaign by bringing in fresh faces, particularly in the defensive third.
Current central defenders Hayden Foxe and Stephan Keller are out of contract at the end of the season whilst Seb Ryall’s form has been indifferent in the opening 11 weeks.
