Sydney FC’s Ryall to stand trial on sex charges

Sydney FC defender Sebastian Ryall will have to stand trial after being accused of engaging in a sexual act with a minor.

Sydney FC defender Sebastian Ryall will have to stand trial after being accused of engaging in a sexual act with a minor.

The Young Socceroos captain is accused of engaging in an oral sex act with a 13-year old girl – the incident taking place on January 25, 2008 in Pittwater, Sydney.

Ryall and co-accused, Alistair Lupton (charged with the same offence but with a different girl), have both claimed that the girls told them they were 16.

It is believed that Ryall’s barrister, Ian Lloyd QC, is unhappy with the verdict thus far as police had never sourced CCTV footage and certain aspects of the incident were unclear.

Magistrate John Andrews has committed the pair to stand trial which will occur on February 5 at Downing Centre District Court.
