Sunderland must find another £6M to land Spurs striker Bent

Sunderland must up their bid to land Tottenham striker Darren Bent.

The Daily Star Sunday says new Black Cats manager Steve Bruce has made Bent, 25, one of his top targets and aims to succeed where his two predecessors – Roy Keane and Mick McCarthy – both failed.

They, too, had the former Charlton and Ipswich striker on their Sunderland wish-list – but attempts to make an acceptable deal failed to come off.

Bruce now hopes to succeed with a £10m offer for Bent, who is available at White Hart Lane – despite being Spurs’ 17-goal top scorer in the season just ended.

But that scoring record has simply convinced Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy that Bent is worth the club record £16.5m fee Spurs paid to Charlton for the striker two years ago.

i think we should keep bent and get rid of keane, des santos, and maybe pavluycenko. bent is a natural goal scorer, he has an awful first touch but he knows where to be or gets extremely lucky but who gives a shit how he scores them aslong as he is scoring. keane never deserved to be captain again and he has served his purpose,

I think we should take the 10M and run, Having looked at Bents goals this season they are nearly all tap ins. He is also guilty of missing alot of sitters.
