Sunderland keeper Gordon: I'm stronger for last 12 months

Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon was delighted to keep a cleansheet in Scotland's 2-0 victory over Macedonia.

After his Hampden heroics he said: "I've possibly come out of the last year a tougher character and better keeper.

"It's maybe a bit early to tell. But since I've come back I think I've played well. I've been happy with my performances for club and country.

"It's been really disappointing to have had a few injuries. But I'm over them and looking to the future.

"When I got my first injury I lost my place at Sunderland. I didn't get it back because the team was doing okay, though we were sliding towards relegation.

"There's not really been very many games where myself and Marton (Fulop) have been vying for the same position. Either I've been injured or he's been injured and the team has pretty much picked itself.

"Now I'm back, although I still think I've got a bit to go with my recovery."
