Sunderland boss Bruce says Bardsley on way to West Brom

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is ready to allow Phil Bardsley to join West Brom.

Bardsley is set to join newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion for a fee believed to be in the region of £1.2m.

Bruce told the Sunderland Echo: "Phil wants to play every week – all players do – and I understand that.

"I know he's not happy when he is out of the side and I can totally understand Phil's position. I would be the same. If you've got anything about you as a footballer, not getting in the team isn't a pleasing thing.

"Everything else can be great but if you're not playing on a Saturday then something gets to you."
