Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has confirmed plans to add more South American talent to his squad.

Bruce is already scouring the leagues in Mexico, Paraguay, Honduras and Ecuador looking for bargains to strengthen his side’s challenge for a top-eight spot in the Premier League.

He told the Sunday Sun: “We have spent a lot of time in South America and we have got connections which are looking to maintain.

“Both my assistant Eric Black and my chief scout Ricky Sbragia have been across to South America recently, and I know the likes of Honduras, Ecuador and Paraguay.

“I know I can go across there and pick up a really good player for a couple of million.”
