Sunderland boss Steve Bruce was pleased to call-up Ryan Noble to his senior squad for the first time last weekend.
Noble wasn't named in the final squad for the defeat at Wigan, but warmed up with the team prior to the game before watching the action from the sidelines.
Bruce said the call-up was a reward for an excellent season so far. Noble has scored 18 times for the Academy team already, notching a further six goals for the reserves.
He told safc.com: "Ryan's done well with the reserves and we've given him his chance to travel with us. He deserves it."
