Sunderland boss Bruce finds Spurs price for Crouch too rich

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has baulked at Tottenham's £12 million asking price for Peter Crouch.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has baulked at Tottenham's £12 million asking price for Peter Crouch.

The Sunday Sun says Bruce is looking to bring in another striker following the £8m departure of Kenwyne Jones to Stoke this week.

Bruce tried to sign Crouch last summer when the England man left Portsmouth but, after holding talks with the Wearsiders, he opted to stay in the south for family reasons and chose Spurs instead.

Spurs are now ready to let Crouch go, which prompted Bruce to pick up the phone to Harry Redknapp.

But, even with the cash generated by the sale of Jones, Spurs’ asking price is too high and Bruce is now preparing to look elsewhere.
