Chelsea striker Danny Sturridge admits he arrived from Manchester City with the profile of a spoilt teenager.

The only criticism of him now is that he could be stronger mentally in his quest to reach the top.

"I have matured in the last year and realised what football is all about," said Sturridge, who is being earmarked as Nicolas Anelka’s long-term successor, to the Mail on Sunday.

"Going to a big club shows you that it is not only about playing, it is about things off the park, too.

"I don’t go out trying to get drunk or anything like that. I don’t think about anything but kicking a ball and trying to get into the Chelsea team."
