Strachan happier working for Middlesbrough fans than Celtic

Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan has taken a swipe at his former Celtic fans.

Strachan says Boro fans have a better handle on reality than those following Celtic and Old Firm rivals Rangers.

"There’s more reality at this club,” Strachan told The Herald. “Most of the supporters understand there’s a big change taking place.

“They understand the big wages and the £12m paid for Afonso Alves and £7m for Mido can’t be done any more. They’re not daft. They understood at the start of the season that (Adam) Johnson was winning games left, right and centre for them.

“If you compare it to Rangers and Celtic, people panic if one of them is doing well because the other can’t be. We don’t have that problem because there is only one club in Middlesbrough.

“That means people can sit back and take in the reality of what is happening to their club without the distraction of what is happening to anyone else.”
