Stoke's Lawrence: Beattie has point to prove to Everton
Stoke City winger Liam Lawrence is backing James Beattie to come good against former club Everton today.
He said: "I've asked Beatts about Everton. He doesn't feel he's got a point to prove to the fans as such because he gave everything when he was there.
"He scored some good goals but he fell out of favour and had to move on.
"But I'm sure he'll be wanting to prove to their staff and manager that it was a mistake to let him go.
"He's quite a touchy man so I'd better watch what I say!
"That was a part of his career that was unfortunate but he's moved on. He was on fire for us last season and it's just about getting his confidence back this season. He's had a few niggles and not had a proper run in the team.
"But he's big and strong and good in the air and he's our best finisher in training."
