West Bromwich Albion boss Roberto di Matteo remains keen on Stoke City striker James Beattie.

The Daily Star Sunday says Albion are desperate to bring in proven Premier League firepower and are considering Stoke outcast Beattie, 32.

Di Matteo said: “We are still trying to bring people in but the market has been very quiet.

“That’s the reality, it’s not easy to bring people in. We are looking to add experience to the squad. It’s a young squad.

“Some have had one season at this level.”
