Stoke City signing Eidur Gudjohnsen admits he gave up a bumper contract at AS Monaco to move to the Potteries.
Gudjohnsen is in line to make his debut in the big Monday night TV game at home to Aston Villa on September 13.
He said: “My decision to come here was purely based on football.
“I could easily have sat on my contract in Monaco – enjoyed the nice weather and looked at the beautiful boats – but this was about football and it was an easy decision.
“I had many options from all over the world, but I made my decision to sign here and I fully intend to make the most of it.”
