Stability the reason for Bradley’s re-signing - Gulati
US Soccer chief Sunil Gulati admits that stability was the main reason for re-signing USA national team coach Bob Bradley.
Bradley was offered a new four-year deal on Monday and Gulati said it was important to continue in the same mould which has seen soccer in the US improve rapidly in the past few years.
"We get a chance to build on everything that has happened over four years," Gulati stated. "Bob has done a great job putting a group of players together, not just in the World Cup. His record speaks for itself."
Following the USA’s disappointing exit in the second round of the World Cup in July, Gulati admitted that Bradley’s tenure may have been over, but upon reflection he felt it was right to propose a contract extension.
“The disappointing part was not in the team or in Bob's effort," he explained. "The disappointment was that you want one more game.
"With a little time to reflect, you look back and it was a good World Cup experience. We're in a situation where we can advance. If we had finished second in the group and lost to Germany 2-1, we would have felt differently."
