St Mirren wait on applicants for vacant managers post

St Mirren chairman Stewart Gilmour has suggested the club will wait for applications for the vacant manager's job before drawing up a list of candidates.

Gilmour insists he will not be rushed into appointing a replacement for Gus MacPherson, who was sacked on Tuesday after almost seven years in charge.

He said in the Daily Express: "Nothing will happen before next week. We've not drawn up a list of candidates.

"We'll see who comes out of the woodwork, who comes to us.

"The board will meet up, probably in the middle of next week, and we will take it from there. We will take our time.

"This is an important decision so we are not going to rush into anything. We didn't have anyone waiting in the wings. We will see what is there, who puts themselves forward."
