Spurs defender Bassong pleased for Owen over Man Utd success

Tottenham defender Sebastien Bassong is happy for former teammate Michael Owen and his progress at Manchester United.

The pair played together at Newcastle United before leaving in the summer.

Before last night's Carling Cup defeat at United, Bassong told the Spurs website: "Michael is an unbelievable striker in and around the box - he's such a threat and we have to be wary of him.

"He's been through his bad times over the last couple of years, but he is still a great player and I have no doubts that he will do a job for United this season and score goals."
