Spartak Moscow prepared to take on Chelsea’s Zhirkov
Russian Premier League outfit Spartak Moscow have confirmed they will make a move for Chelsea’s Yuri Zhirkov in the winter.
Spartak attempted to bring the 27-year old former Zenit St Petersburg man back to Russia in the summer transfer window but he was keen to remain at Chelsea.
However, Spartak boss Valeri Karpin said his club will again move for Zhirkov when the next window opens.
“I was interested, I am now and I will be in the winter,” he said.
Zhirkov has struggled in the Premier League since moving to Stamford Bridge from Zenit in July 2009, in a deal that made him Russia’s most expensive player of all time.
