Spalletti wins on Zenit St Petersburg debut

Luciano Spalletti has won on his Zenit St Petersburg debut.

Zenit won 1-0 away to Krylya Sovietov in Samara thanks to Portuguese midfielder Danny’s goal after 66 minutes.

However, Zenit ended the game with 10 men, as Taranov was sent off towards the end.

“I said during negotiations with Zenit and when I first arrived in St Petersburg that I had a good feeling,” commented Spalletti. “Now that I have worked closely with this squad of players in pre-season, I have even higher hopes for the new Zenit.

“I want to give my all for this club and achieve as much as possible.”
