Sounders impacting heavily on Seattle community

Seattle Sounders FC are having a positive impact on the city which has been working through a recession.

Qwest Field has become a field of dreams for Seattle people with double the MLS attendance average and economy is starting to pick up.

Fans of the Sounders say the team is having a positive impact in so many areas.

"We just love them in this town. We've been waiting for a team for a long time," Dan Sego, a 52-year-old engineer, told Reuters outside Qwest Field.

"The stadium is packed. It's lifted the soccer community."

"There's a huge soccer community in Seattle that I don't think most of the world understands or realizes," said 47-year-old Seattle fan Jess Gobel also to Reuters.

"We appreciate the game, and we love the game."

The bright green jerseys of the Sounders can be seen convoying to the ground with the 53-piece marching band before home games, creating an atmosphere not seen at any other MLS stadiums.
