Sochaux striker Charlie Davies is out of surgery and in a stable condition following a serious car accident in Washington.

The USA international suffered a lacerated bladder and fractures to the tibia and femur bones in his right leg as well as facial fractures and a fracture to his left elbow.

The 23-year old can be considered lucky as one person was killed and another was in a serious condition as a result of the accident.

Davies chances of a full recovery are good considering his fitness and age according to Dr Dan Kalbac.

“Injuries of this nature usually require a recovery period of six to 12 months and extensive rehabilitation,” said the doctor, who is with the team in D.C. and collaborated with the treating doctors.

”Due to Charlie’s fitness level, his prognosis for recovery and his ability to resume high-level competition is substantially improved.”
