Smith to stick with Newcastle despite Tiote arrival

Alan Smith expects to stay with Newcastle United.
The signing of a defensive midfield rival in Cheick Tioté prompted some speculation that Smith, one of the higher earners in the squad, may be made available by United – who are operating under strict financial constraints this summer.
A source close to the player told The Journal: “Nothing has been said to Alan about moving out of Newcastle and as far as he’s concerned he wouldn’t want to leave. He is happy at Newcastle and has no plans to leave the club.”
