Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer says the club cannot afford to lose goalkeeper Shay Given.

"Losing Shay would be a huge loss," said Shearer.

"They can't afford to let him go.

"They have Steve Harper who is a great goalkeeper but because of the points that Shay saves you, you can't let him go."
